Shure is basically the top of the food chain when it comes to microphones. They make the best on the market and even there lower cost models work amazingly. The KSM27 SL is a professional microphone and it runs around $200, not sure what the exchange would be in pounds. If that's a little too pricey, then you can go a step down and get the Shure SM57-LC microphone. I've heard this mic has amazing quality for the price. It runs around $70. I found some reviews at my favorite review site on each of them to help you out.
